Hello, I am Castiel. Welcome to my website! I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Development Economics in the School of Economics at Peking University. I received my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Washington in 2022.

My recent research fields of interest are empirical industrial organization and population/labor/health economics, focusing on three research questions:
  1. How do market structure and incentive mechanisms shape the economic decisions and interactions of producers and consumers?
  2. How do policy interventions generate intended and unintended consequences through individual behavioral responses and market equilibrium adjustments, and how can these findings inform policy design?
  3. How do institutional and environmental risks affect human capital, health, and welfare, thereby contributing to inequality?

I
analyze policies that promote human development and wellbeing.
